General Dentalcare

Routine Check-ups / Full Mouth Examinations

We normally advise a routine check-up every six months for each member of the family. During a dental exam, your dentist will:

  • Evaluate your overall dental health and you risk of tooth /root decay, and gum or bone disease
  • Evaluate your need for tooth restoration or tooth replacement
  • Check your bite and jaw for problems
  • Perform an oral cancer screening
  • We also offer dietary and smoking cessation advice

Hygiene Visits (Scale and Polish)

Dental hygienists professionally clean your teeth with ultrasonic scalers, check for signs of oral diseases such as gingivitis (gum disease),and provide other preventive dental care. We also provide patient education on ways to improve and maintain good oral health, thereby helping to avoid serious problems-and expensive treatment – in the future.

Dental Fillings

Dental fillings are used to fill cavities and to restore decayed and broken teeth. There are two main types of fillings:

  • Dental amalgam or silver fillings
  • Composite fillings. These use a tooth coloured material that is matched to the existing shade of the tooth for a natural appearance. Composites can also be used to cosmetically improve the smile by changing the colour of the teeth or by reshaping disfigured teeth.

Sports and Night Mouth Guards

A mouth guard is a protective device for the mouth that covers the teeth and gums to prevent and reduce injury to the teeth, arches and gums. We can create bespoke mouth guards to protect against:

  • Injury in contact sports (sports guards)
  • Teeth grinding (night guards) that can lead to headaches or chipped teeth
